我是谁?在混沌中见光明
“Who am I?” is a honey pot used by countless con artists to destroy your confidence so they can step in as prophets of truth. Reject the scam immediately. Never surrender your autonomy to them - you know yourself far better than they ever could.
When people fall into this trap, they typically get swallowed by the thoughts in their mind - the psychological construct built from social status and anxieties. The ego craves complex mental frameworks to generate the dopamine of having “figured it out”. But the ego is not the true self; it is the murky storm water. When the ego tries to find itself, it loops endlessly in cognitive work that is never satisfying. This is the true root of losing oneself: mistaking the mind’s storm for the true self, and outsourcing awareness to prefabricated answers.
The real answer has always been the very nature of yourself, and you have likely caught glimpses of it before. It is the source of the flow in our consciousness. Because this flow is already there, you don’t need to “achieve” or “cultivate” it - you just have to notice it, and be touched by that source.
The flow can feel subtle at first. You will have to be quiet to feel it. Laozi said that it could hardly be seen, heard, or grasped.
视之不见,名曰夷;听之不闻,名曰希;搏之不得,名曰微
Look at it, feel it, and you will see the wonder of it. You will see that it springs from a boundless expanse so vast that we stand before it in awe without being able to describe it with words.
大音希声,大象无形。道隐无名。
This realization doesn’t come through grand theories, but through resonance, much like a string vibrating in its own tone.
Realizing that the mind has reached its absolute limit is the prerequisite for seeing your true self. This is why you have to stop the mental noise to let the soul calm itself.
That doesn’t mean stop the thinking. We must inquire and explore, but without restricting ourselves to science and logic. All of our lived inputs - raw experiences, emotional upheavals, and the frictions of daily existence - eventually settle into the background. This builds the pressure that will eventually be released as the flow. And when the flow moves on its own, our soul naturally resonates with it.
When that happens, the soul wakes up to a reality that is already present. At that moment, the distinction between limited and boundless existence dissolves; I am with who I am, and who I am is with me.
